He was awarded his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, in 1993, earning Law I, II and III Academic Merit Scholarships, Dean's List and Honor Roll recognition, Moot Court Board membership, a Federal Judicial Internship, a Teaching Fellowship, and a Department of Justice Internship.  He earned an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy at Temple University in 2008.  LL.M. degrees require an additional year of legal study beyond law school.  He is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can achieve for ethical and legal ability.  He is a Fellow of The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Luhrsen practiced in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, where he served in the 82d Airborne Division and the 2d Infantry Division, serving as Trial Counsel, Military Magistrate, Article 32 Hearing Officer, and Special Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Department of Justice. He returned to Florida in 1998 and has limited his practice to civil prosecution ever since. Luhrsen Law Group has 11 offices in Florida, and Mr. Luhrsen serves as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He was a Director of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers from 2000 - 2006 and Chair of The Academy's Automobile Insurance Committee from 2003 - 2006. He presently serves on the Florida Highway Patrol’s Advisory Council, a civilian body providing support and advice to the Director of the Patrol. Mr. Luhrsen is licensed in Florida and Virginia. He is an active member of The Florida Justice Association, the American Justice Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church. He and his wife, Julie, have two children, Matthew and Erin.
